About the Award

The Crown Prince Award for Best Government Service Application is an annual award designed to stimulate and encourage university students to provide creative solutions via smartphone applications. The aim is to improve government services and provide simple around the clock government services that are easy, efficient and transparent to exceed customer expectations.

Health

All aspects of health care including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and health services in general. It also includes access to health care, the patient journey, and remote diagnostic solutions, as well as the management of chronic diseases as well as lifestyle and health education.

All aspects of health of Education including the provision of educational services in addition to the effective and efficient management of educational institutions and other government educational services that may serve the educational sector in the Kingdom.

Transportation

All aspects of Transportation including  activities focusing on the following segments: the elderly, low-income families, people with special needs, and university students, in addition to rural and remote areas in other governorates.

Tourism

All aspects of Tourism including development, medical tourism, hospitality, culture, arts, entertainment, preserving art, culture and heritage as well as services pertaining to travellers and tourists.

Agriculture and Food Security

All aspects of Agricultural and Food Security including ways to achieve food security in terms of providing adequate food in sufficient quantities and obtaining it at all times, particularly in times of crisis in order to enhance the levels of self-sufficiency in Jordan.

All aspects of digital economy including the national economy development services by providing information technology to enhance digital skills, achieve comprehensive development of Jordan’s digital and entrepreneurial skills, and develop the digital services to offer them in the best ways, ensuring they reach the most significant number of users, as well as building and developing the infrastructure to provide safe access to high-quality data.

All aspects of finance bycontributing to providing an attractive and stimulating investment environment for economic and social development, enhancing financial inclusion, protecting the financial consumer, and achieving integration between fiscal and monetary policy to serve the national economy.

Servicing Sector

All aspects of servicing sector by enhancing government services provided to citizens by all government institutions in a way that improves its efficiency and devising creative ways to deliver these services with the least possible time and effort.

Government Communication

All aspect of government communication by enhancing the role of the national media in defending the supreme interests of the country, as the principles include protecting media diversity, strengthening its position in addressing rumors, hate speech, and privacy violations, and enhancing the public’s right to professional and media that respects reason, truth, human dignity, freedom, as well as promoting patriotism, educating citizens of their rights and duties, promoting the principles of justice, equality, and the rule of law.

Main Criteria

  • Feasibility of Implementation (35%)

    This criterion focuses on the feasibility of implementing the mobile application to facilitate the provision of the government services

     

  • Innovation (25%)

    This criterion focuses on the "Wow!" factor - that is, the innovative use of technology or stand-out approaches for combining ideas in a creative and collaborative manner and developing a solution that is unique, original, and new focusing on life event services that impact overall customer experience.

  • Efficiency & Effectiveness (20%)

    This criterion focuses on the adoption of services amongst the targeted audience, and the ability to solve a problem that deals with Public Service with a high level of impact on society.

  • Ease of Use (20%)

    This criterion focuses on how well the services are being delivered from a user perspective. It focuses on functionalities such as but not limited to easy navigation with friendly design (look and feel).

Rules of Participation

  1. Only students enrolled in public and private universities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan can participate.

  2. The university must be accredited and recognized by the entity authorized to do so in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

  3. Students cannot participate individually.

  4. Students must apply for the prize as a team that consists of a minimum of two and a maximum of six people.

  5. The applicants who graduated from the One Million Jordanian Coders Initiative must not be have an active social security number.

  6. Students can participate with more than one application.

  7. The university can participate with more than one team.

  8. Mobile applications / solutions must be linked to one of the relevant government services provided to individual or business customers (G2C or G2B).

  9. Students must work with the targeted government entity.

  10. Mobile applications and solutions must be developed at the university, by the students themselves.

  11. The app will be developed in Arabic language – the winner will have to develop an English version upon execution.

  12. All submissions must include a video explaining the app with the main features and benefits of the app.

  13. All applications must include a working or simulated working package on one of the official software development tools.
